WA Day- Celebrate Where Ever You Are in Perth

Hurray for Western Australia! You may be wondering what is WA DAY. WA Day is a proud occasion for all Western Australians to consider and celebrate all the great things about our people, our lifestyle, our culture and our future.  How will you spend the long weekend to celebrate? If you aren’t sure then here are some ideas to suit no matter where in Perth you are.

Perth

This WA Day, Elizabeth Quay will come to life with an enormous new WA Day Festival, rejoicing in the best of Western Australian culture. On Monday 6 June from 10am to 9pm, Elizabeth Quay will be bursting with free activities for the whole family. Visitors are invited to spend the day exploring Western Australian music, food, sports, arts and culture through a range of activities.  These will include; Building Our Future with Lego, State of the Art music festival (FREE for the first time this year), Bush Tucker Tastings, Circus Skills Workshop, Iconic Species Face Painting, The Colours of Western Australia, The Imagination Playground and more. This is a free family event.

Fremantle

From 10am to 4pm at Esplanade Park visitors can enjoy a festival of Western Australian music, food, sports, arts and culture. Here is an idea of what fantastic activities will be happening for WA Day: Across Cultures Art Classes with Walyalup Aboriginal Cultural Centre, African Drumming Circles, BOOKS OUT LOUD! Author readings by Jen Banyard and other Western Australian authors, Decorate the sky with Kite Kinetics exhibition and workshop, Know Your Nation presents: Up close and personal with Greg Hastings and Horatio T Birdbath, Mask making, Board the 1606 replica Duyfken ship and other activities. Rottnest

Celebrate on WA's favourite island playground - Rottnest Island! Rottnest Express is a proud WA business and they want to take you to Rottnest Island this WA Day Long Weekend for just $39 ex Fremantle. To make this day even better, part proceeds of these tickets will be going to Telethon. Once on the Island you can join one of the many fascinating guided walking tours, follow a Trail, hire a bike or join a bus tour to explore the Island, learn about the island's history at the Rottnest Island Museum, Lomas Cottage, Pilot Boat House, Vincent Way and Salt Store, climb the Wadjemup Lighthouse for the ultimate views, ride the train to Oliver Hill and more!

Mandurah

If you are further south of Perth, celebrate WA in Mandurah! From 3pm to 8pm on Tuckey Street, enjoy a festival of Western Australian music, food, sports, arts and culture. The fantastic activities happening for WA Day includes: Stories around the campfire pit, Chinese lantern parade, Fire twirlers, Spit roasts and other food, Community Canvas: join an Aboriginal artist to complete a collective masterpiece.
