The Swan Valley is only a short 25 minute drive from the Perth CBD making it a quick and easy day out. Things to see and do at the Swan Valley include breweries, distilleries, wine tasting, shopping, arts, wildlife encounters, food and wine trail, historic attractions and more. All activities are perfect for the Perth winter to try.
The Swan Valley Wine and Food trail will have you and your companions filling full and satisfied for the whole outing! The trail is well sign-posted and works in conjunction with the Swan Valley Guide and Maps. You have the ability to pick and choose your own wine and food experience. We highly recommend the Cheese Barrel (if you are a fan of cheese) to stop for a quick cheese platter. This is a great option as a light lunch if you plan to taste a lot of the other treats in the area. Other recommended stops are Morish Nuts, Whistler’s Chocolate Co & Café, Mondo Nougat and Chocolate, House of Honey, Yahava Koffeeworks and the Margaret River Chocolate Company. Margaret River Chocolate is renowned for having large tasting bowls of their white, milk and dark chocolate- for FREE! If you would prefer to have a proper lunch there is lots of fantastic restaurants to select from that show case the wonderful fresh and local produce of the area.
Wine is not the only alcoholic beverage to taste from! Swan Valley offers a large range of beers, ciders and spirits to choose from. Catering for connoisseurs of every kind, you’ll find lagers, pilsners, ales, wheat beers and stouts, as well as ciders and ginger beer, all handcrafted following traditional techniques and using the best local produce. A bonus is that many are preservative free and are organic. Recommended breweries include Feral Brewing Company and Duckstein Brewery. And for those who love spirits, two of Western Australia’s nest distilleries can be found in the Swan Valley. These distilleries are The Great Northern Distillery and Old Young’s Distillery. Try the award winning gin and Canefire rum.
Other fun things to check out include Supa golf, paintball, golf at the Vines, cycling, Belvoir theatre and the Cuddly Animal Farm. There are also plenty of art galleries and gift shops to explore. Gomboc Gallery has the largest sculpture park in the southern hemisphere. Attend a workshop at Taylors Art and Coffee House (coffee is a plus). View amazing Aboriginal art works at Maalinup Aboriginal Gallery or some interesting pottery. Visit Mandoon Estate to have a glass of wine or a bite to eat before viewing some art at the Linton & Kay gallery.
