Whilst you are visiting Perth, it is highly recommended that you head down south for a quick getaway as there is so much to enjoy in the South-West region (that is if you enjoy delicious food, wine and stunning scenery).
A popular place to visit is Margaret River. Due to the amount of amazing things to do in Margaret River, this is no real surprise. The list of things to do includes visiting wineries, exploring caves (the Lake Cave is especially interesting), go to the Margaret River Chocolate Factory, the Cheese Factory, visit one of the beaches, take a walk through the town centre or take a wildlife tour.....the list goes on!
However, another recommend place to visit in the South-West region is Pemberton. This wonderful town is perfect if you want to switch off and spend quality with those closest to you. It is also a great place to visit if you enjoy the outdoors. The list of things to do includes climbing either the Gloucester Tree (the tree look out is 61 metres up) or the Bicentennial Tree (the tree look out is 75 metres up), go on an organised tour, mountain bike, walk the Bibbulmun track, go swimming in the Big Brook Dam, fish for trout and ride the Pemberton Tramway.
A suggestion as for where to stay in Pemberton is the Karri Valley Resort. This resort is nestled on the edge of trout filled Lake Beedelup and surrounded by grand Karri Forest and seasonal wildflowers. Whether it's a family holiday, a honeymoon or romantic escape, a social get-a-way or a corporate conference, Karri Valley Resort offers a range of accommodation styles, activities and resort experiences to suit all. There are extensive school holiday programs on offer as well as activities open for everyone. These activities include sailing, tennis, golf, fishing and water sports. There is also a stunning lakeside restaurant. The restaurant offers a menu that reflects the high quality of the local produce. Definitely a place to try if you visit!
Wineries to visit include Silkwood winery (you can also stay here), Lost Lake, Mountford Organic Wines, Hidden River Estate and Cafe and Truffle Wine and Co. As well as there being plenty of wineries to stop at, there are also place to try some beer and cider. Such places include Tangletoe Cidery and Jarrah Jack’s.
Another special mention goes to the Lavender Berry Farm. If you are looking for some where to stop by for breakfast, this is the place. The Lavender Berry Farm is famous for its berry pancakes. They are very generous serves so go on an empty stomach or someone to share the pancakes with! Once you are done you can take a wonder through the shop and check out all of their products. They stock a wide range of lavender products. There are also alpacas on the farm which you can feed. The Lavender Berry Farm also has four chalets which are available for accommodation.
After you have visited either Margaret River or Pemberton (or both!), head back to Perth and stay at Cottesloe so that you can experience the best location. Staying in Cottesloe also means that you will have more beautiful scenery, yet is central enough, as you are less than 20 minutes away. Cottesloe Beach House Stays has a large range of properties to choose from to suit your needs.
